Empowering Users: Accessible UX Design for Newslaundry’s Digital Platform
Date
January 2024 - April 2024
Location
New Delhi, India (Remote)
Project type
UX Research and Design
Partnering with Newslaundry, an ad-free media platform in India known for critical reporting and satire, I led UX efforts to improve content accessibility for diverse audiences. Recognizing the need for greater readability, navigability, and trust signals, I introduced inclusive design practices that enhanced editorial workflows and reduced cognitive load for readers across age groups and abilities.
Key contributions included:
Conducting heuristic evaluations and user interviews to uncover friction points in content consumption.
Designing low-contrast remediation strategies, typographic refinements, and layout improvements to support visual accessibility.
Prototyping a more intuitive article page structure with clearer information hierarchy and fewer distractions.
Advocating for plain language and universal design principles in cross-functional handoffs.
This work empowered Newslaundry to better serve its subscribers and reinforce its mission: delivering independent journalism that’s truly for everyone.
