🔄 Project Description: Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant Website Redesign
Serving Ann Arbor & Ferndale, Michigan
Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant has been a cherished destination for traditional cuisine and community gathering for decades. To better reflect its cultural richness and evolving customer needs, I led a comprehensive website redesign that brings accessibility, usability, and modernization to the forefront.
Guided by user research and inclusive design principles, the project emphasized an intuitive experience for all visitors—whether browsing on mobile, searching for vegan options, or placing an order from home. The redesign aligned with the restaurant's values by making the digital experience feel just as inviting and flavorful as the in-person one.
🔧 Focus Areas & Key Improvements:
♿️ Accessibility First: Implemented inclusive navigation, legible typography, and screen-reader-friendly markup to ensure the site is welcoming to all users.
👨🏽🍳 Menu Overhaul: Revamped and reorganized the menu with clearer categories, appetizing visuals, and dietary filters (vegan, gluten-free, etc.) to improve findability and delight.
🛒 Online Ordering Integration: Introduced secure, mobile-optimized ordering pathways for takeout and reservations—seamlessly tailored to each location.
📱 Responsive Design: Built a flexible layout and scalable components to ensure consistent performance across devices.
🌐 Modern UI Refresh: Infused Ethiopian color schemes and textures into a clean, modern interface that preserves authenticity while enhancing usability.
By blending cultural storytelling with practical upgrades, the final product makes it easier than ever to experience Blue Nile’s hospitality—digitally and deliciously.
